Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a reimagining of the characters in a new and interesting way, in this version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Raphael is actually a snapping turtle, that carries twin tonfas as his weapon of choice, Leonardo is a read-eared slider who uses an odachi sword, Donatello was imagined as a soft-shell turtle that wields a Techo Bo-Staff and last but not least it’s Michelangelo who can be seen as a box turtle and his weapon of choice is a kusaru-fundo.
In this new incarnation of the mega-popular brand, Raphael, the snapping turtle, is now the leader of the ninja turtles – he’s the oldest and biggest of them, he’s very enthusiastic and filled with bravado. Leonardo is seen as the coolest brother, at least from his own point of view and he can be very charming but also has a rebel side to him. Donatello is similar to how he was before; he is still a tech genius whose ninja skills match those he has with coding and programming. Again, last but not least it’s Michelangelo who is of a free spirit and a creative mind, always riding his skateboard.
Now when it comes to the real-world aspect of the show, it should be out later this year and will be directed by voice-acting expert Rob Paulsen has a great set of voice actors. Omar Miller as Raphael, Ben Schwartz as Leonardo, Josh Brener as Donatello and Brandon Mychal Smith as Michelangelo. Kat Graham will give her voice to April O’Neil, Eric Bauza will be Splinter and John Cena lends his voice to the villain of the show, Baron Draxum, an alchemist warrior who wants to turn every human in the world into a mutant.
